Episode 75:Paul’s explanation
Alice:Hello?
Paul:Alice, it’s Paul. Don’t hang up, Alice. Just give me two minutes of your time, that’s all I ask.
Alice:Ok Paul, but we haven’t got much to talk about. You’re married with two kids, end of story.
Paul:Alice, it’s over between Lucy and me. It’s been over for a long time.
Alice:Paul, I heard you talking to her on the phone. You were telling her you loved her.
Paul:No, Alice, you’ve got it all wrong. I was talking to my daughter, not my wife. I used to love my wife, of course, but that ended very abruptly when I came home from work, and she calmly announced that she had fallen in love with someone else. So that was it, finished. I moved out the same day.
Alice:Oh Paul.
Paul:Alice, it’s you I love.

Why being honest will set your relationships and potential free :)

Since we are little we are taught that lying is wrong, that it is not something we should do. But at the same time we are constantly lied to about little things. I may still be a little bitter about Santa? maybe, but that’s not the point. The point is that it is obvious that people have a hard time telling the truth as it is, if we are usually surrounded by little white lies. We need to start changing that.

In the video we are told that we must be honest to have a good relationship with others and how little lies can become a habit… and I completely agree! All relationships are based on trust, communication and intimacy, in which you have to be honest or else you can never be yourself and be accepted as such. That’s why I’m always honest with myself and others. It’s the best filter to know which relationships are worth it and which are not. And of course, nothing bothers me more than lies. I always say ” It’s better that you tell me, than that I find out from someone else”… yeah, maybe I stole that from my mom. But well, she was the one who always used it with me, and to be honest it worked, because I would tell the truth right away hahaha.

“Being honest”… I get it, sometimes it can be hard, especially when you think it’s just a little lie to keep the other person from feeling bad. Most people do it, but at the end of the day the lie ends up hurting more than the truth, and you lose more than you gain. Remember, trust is the hardest thing to gain and when you lie you compromise the trust you were given, and if you lose it, it will probably never be the same again. So don’t lie folks, lies are lies, even if you mean well.

Episode 61:A difficult conversation
Helen:Hi Michal, what are you doing on the computer? Let’s see. One ticket to Poland! Michal, what’s going on?
Michal:Helen, we have to talk about everything! We need to talk about love, commitment, family and about dads.
Helen:Dad? What did he say to you in the garden? You’ve been acting all funny since we got back from that visit.
Michal:No, Helen not your dad, my dad. He’s had a heart attack.
Helen:Oh, that’s awful. So that’s why you are flying over to visit him. How long are you going for?
Michal:Helen, it’s a one-way ticket I’ve booked; I’m going back to Poland for good.

“My goals, challenges and expectations for language 2”

New semester and here we are. I’m pretty excited about what this new semester is going to bring, so I’m going to start by talking about “My Language 1 Self-assessment”. As I read it I realized that I’m still as anxious as I was at the end of last semester. In a good way, though. New challenges and goals are coming, but I feel ready 🙂

As goals for this semester, I have set myself to improve my performance in phonetics and use of english. Since I feel that this is what I have to work on the most. At the same time, I have set as a goal to participate more in class, which I don’t think will be that hard to achieve since I have gained a little bit of confidence. But don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I lack personality, I just like to get to know the people I surround myself with first hahah.

As for challenges…I think my biggest challenge is going to be speak in English without getting nervous and star beliving more in my abilities. Most of the time I hesitate and finally I prefer to keep quiet. So that’s something I plan to work on.

Finally expectations. Great word. People say it’s not good to have too many expectations as you will end up disappointed, but I think they are helpful to be able to achieve what you expect. My expectations this semester are to be able to learn as much as I can, maintain my good grades and achieve the goals and challenges I set for myself.
